Starfleet along with its wartime allies the Klingons and Romulans were devastated within months, The Romulan and Klingon fleets were destroyed to next to nothing, and most of Star Fleet's heavy cruisers were destroyed.

The Dominion with the help of their new Cardassian allies conquered Earth first then spread out like the plague dominating every Federation planet in the Quadrant. As a last resort the Federation collapsed the wormhole but it was too late. With the fleet destroyed and all at Star Fleet dead, you are the last hope of the human race.
